Terms of Service
Effective October 18, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Salaam Traveler mobile app and website (together, the "Service"), operated by Salaam Traveler ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
Salaam Traveler helps you plan travel around prayer times and halal dining — generating itineraries, surfacing nearby halal restaurants and mosques, and letting you save trips and contribute community information.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized use.
3. Your Content
You may submit content to the Service — such as halal confirmations, trip details, and notes ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute it within the Service (for example, including your halal confirmation in the community tally other users see for a restaurant). You're responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the rights to share it.
You agree not to submit content that is false, infringing, abusive, or that violates others' privacy or rights. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Halal & Religious Content Disclaimer
Salaam Traveler is not a religious authority and does not certify restaurants, products, or establishments as halal. Halal status shown in the app is based on community confirmations and on evidence in public listing data, evaluated automatically, and may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for verifying halal status independently before making dietary decisions, especially where strict compliance matters to you.
5. Third-Party Content & Services
The Service displays information from third parties (including Google, Mapbox, OpenStreetMap contributors, Pexels, and the Al-Adhan prayer-times service) and links to third-party sites and services. We don't control and aren't responsible for the accuracy of third-party content, or for the practices of third-party sites.
6. Subscriptions & Purchases
Salaam Traveler Pro, when available, is offered as an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple App Store account. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase, and your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your device's Account Settings. Refunds are handled by Apple according to their policies, not by us directly.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, and branding, is owned by Salaam Traveler and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for your User Content, you may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our permission.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't guarantee that itineraries, prayer times, halal information, or place data will be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted. Travel involves inherent risk — you're responsible for confirming details (hours, availability, safety) before you rely on them.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Salaam Traveler will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on inaccurate prayer times, halal information, or itinerary content.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the effective date above, and for material changes, we'll provide notice in the app.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless otherwise required by your local law.
